Holiday Traveling With Shell


Are you and your family traveling for the Holiday's this year? We stayed in town this year and went to my mom's house who lives about 5 minutes away. If we would have traveled to see my family in California, we would have driven there. With the cost of 4 round-trip tickets and ridiculous baggage fee's it would have been too expensive to travel by air especially since gas here is under $3 a gallon! I didn't notice until the other day when the gas pump stopped at under $40 to fill up my tank. For a second I actually thought the pump was broken.

Did you travel by air or car?

Many may be surprised to learn that driving can often be more economical, fun and flexible than
flying. According to a May 2012 Car Care Council analysis, a family of four traveling 1,000 miles round trip could save $1,000 by driving instead of flying
o The average cost for a family of four to drive 1,000 mile round trip is $350
o The average cost for a family of four to fly 1,000 mile round trip is $1,441

According to the Shell Mechanics Survey*, the four best tactics to prepare your vehicle for the
upcoming holiday travel season are:
o Inspect tires for air pressure, tread depth, rotation, etc.
o Check all fluid levels
o Fill up with a high quality fuel
o Check / change engine oil and oil filters
