Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with Latino American's

{This is part of a compensated campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Ford. However, all opinions expressed are my own.}

Hispanic Heritage Month is finally upon us, and what better way to celebrate than by watching LATINO AMERICANS with your family!

LATINO AMERICANS is a three-part, six-hour series will document the history and experiences of Latinos, who have helped to shape North America over the last 500 years. It is a story of immigration and renovation, and the anguish and celebration that Hispanics have faced to achieve a better life for themselves and their families. LATINO AMERICANS will feature interviews with Puerto Rican star of West Side Story, Rita Moreno; Mexican-American author and commentator Linda Chavez, who also became the highest ranking woman in the Reagan White House; and Cuban singer and entrepreneur Gloria Estefan.

As a Latina who was born and raised here in America, I often run into the challenge of keeping the Spanish language and culture alive in my family. I know that this something most of us Latina's deal with on a regular basis because we want our children to be bilingual and bi-cultural.

I try to expose our children to as many Hispanic traditions as possible. Emma lee in the photo above is wearing her "Dia de los Muertos" dress. Living in San Antonio, where Hispanic culture and tradition has a big influence in the city definitely makes it easier. We try to attend has many Hispanic influenced events in the city and many restaurants in town have a very strong Spanish vibe going on with great Spanish food. I think it's one of the reasons why I fell in love with this city so quickly after moving here 10 years ago. I'm always telling people how much culture and diversity San Antonio has to offer and how much I love it.

LATINO AMERICANS will air on PBS on September 17th, September 24th, and October 1st from 8:00 - 10:00 p.m. (EST). Ford Motor Company is a proud member of the Hispanic community and as such is honored to be involved in the Latino Americans series on PBS.
