La Familia de Hoy - Today's Modern Family

{This is a compensated post in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson and Latina Bloggers Connect}

Johnson & Johnson and Univision have launched a campaign to find an authentic, modern and active family to become “La Familia de Hoy" (Family of Today). Three modern families are competing for the title of “La Familia de Hoy”,  the winning family will become the spokesfamily for Johnson & Johnson in 2014. You can log on to Univision.com and vote for your favorite familia and help them represent today's families.

My vote for “La Familia de Hoy" is the Olivera family, they are a great mix of countries, cultures, and languages. If you'd like to vote for them or one of the other families nominated, please visit Univision.com.

What does the term "Modern Family" mean to you? To me the families of today are a collaboration of different cultures, and people from different walks of life that have come together and are held together by love. Some families are more diverse than others, some come from completely different cultures, countries and languages, and then you have others who simple grew up on different sides of America. Even minor differences can make a family a unique family of today. I consider my very own family a “La Familia de Hoy", we are made up of different races and cultures. My family decedents are Hispanic and Trey's family came from Italy and Germany. I grew up bi-lingual speaking both English and Spanish with Latino culture. I think one of our biggest differences is where we grew up, I was born and raised in Southern California and Trey was raised in Northern Texas. Together we are raising our bi-racial, mutlicultural children together and that to me is an example of one version of today's family.

What does "La Familia de Hoy" (Family of today) mean to you? Are you a modern family?
