Did you know that an estimated 1 in 2 Hispanic adolescents between the ages of 10 and 19 years old will suffer from Type 2 diabetes.
My most recent goal is be more physically active, not for the sake of high sugar levels but for many other health reasons. Being more physically active can help me relieve stress, help me sleep better and can get me in shape so that clothes fit better. I guess it's not so much a goal as it is wanting a lifestyle change. It's a lifestyle change worth putting effort into, no one will be disappointed with the positive benefits it can bring. I honestly have no excuse as to why I'm not more physically active and the fact that my other half has recently become a fitness instructor at a local gym doesn't help with any of my lame excuses.
So it's time to dust of those sneakers and get out there and get moving! You and I owe it to our health, bodies, mind and loved one's to lead a healthy and active lifestyle. Sometimes just beginning with small steps can lead to big changes in the future.
Across the nation, the America’s Health Rankings report shows that physical inactivity has dropped from 26.2 percent of the adult population to 22.9 percent. Luckily, among the Hispanic population, physical inactivity also decreased from 30.6 percent to 28.5 percent.
While this is currently the trend, this year’s report shows that Americans are becoming more active and obesity, for the first time in 18 years, has leveled off without seeing any increases. Despite these improvements, diabetes continues to be on a fast rack to becoming an epidemic.
